Costa Rica

Hello again-

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and was blessed with the same great weather that we had here in Raleigh. It was in the mid 60s so Katie and I spent most of the weekend on some hikes with our dog and Katie's parents. It was a great relaxing weekend. We also managed to use Katie's grill for the first time this year with a great marinated chicken breast. Delicious and a great break from winter.

Today's picture comes from Graham and Rachel, two of Katie's family friends. Graham grew up with Katie and her brothers.  This is a picture of the Costa Rican coast and the rain forest.

Thanks again Graham and Rachel.

Three Sisters

Another week in the books. What a week it was too!
Today's picture comes  again from a friend of Katie's Maid of Honor (Danielle), Josh. He previously sent us pictures from the Sydney Opera House.

Today's pictures are of the "Three Sisters" which is a rock formation in the Blue Mountains. The Three Sisters are a part of folk. history in Australia. The story says that the three sisters were turned to stone by their father to protect them during a battle. The father was then killed in battle and no one could turn them back .

Hopefully we will be able to visit there sometime. Thanks for helping Josh and Danielle.

Enjoy your weekend.

The Largest Aquarium in the World

Most couple's have a list of places to visit and things to do together. Katie and I have always loved museums, outdoor activities and different cultures. That is part of how this Project started. There is so much to experience in  the world. So much of it that we don't even know about. We wanted people to share their experiences, their cities, and their cultures with us. We have not been disappointed.

One of the places that is on our list, and has been for quite a while, is the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium is the world's larges aquarium and holds over 8.5 million gallons of water, housing over 500 species of animals and between 100,000 and 120,000 fish and other sea creatures.

Pretty remarkable to say the least. Katie and I can't wait to visit, which will hopefully be soon.
Know of somewhere that should be on our list? Email projectsavethedate@gmail.com

Oh Canada

So sometimes when I receive a picture, the only thing I can do is laugh. When I posted an ad on Reddit.com a while back asking for help or ideas I received this picture from a reader.

He simply said, "Here is my backyard in Calgary." I don't think that he ever anticipated that we would actually use it but, here it is!

So now Project Save The Date has been to Calgary.

Sorry for the short post (again) but yesterday was a long day at work and I got hope very late (which is when I write the posts)

Enjoy your Wednesday!

Holy Guatemala

Hello Hello!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. Katie and I were very VERY bus this past weekend wedding planning. We went looking for suits for the bridal party (didn't find them), ran some errands and worked on other wedding odds and ends. I remember when weekends used to be relaxing. I am sure one day it will get back to that!

Today's picture comes to us from Jane who traveled over Christmas break with her family. This picture comes from Tikal Guatemala. Tikal is an ancient city ruins in Guatemala.

Thanks for getting these Jane. We really appreciate everyone who has helped up out with this Project. We are overwhelmed with the amount of people who have helped us out.

Thanks again for reading.

Life is a Marathon, a Disney Marathon!

Welcome to Friday!
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, today's pictures come to us once again from Rich and Rita. Rich and Rita also provided the underwater shots that were a big hit. Recently Rich and Rita completed the Disney Marathon in Orlando Florida. They took along the Save The Date with them. We never could have imagined that the Save The Date would have completed a marathon!. They took lots of pictures of the Save The Date at Disney and with the characters after completing the marathon. Because there were so many great pictures I decided to split it up over a couple days. Today's are all marathon related.

Thanks again Rich and Rita for helping out and congratulations on completing the marathon.
As always, let us know if you can help out with the Project. ProjectSavetheDate@gmail.com

Enjoy your weekend!

The Georgia Institute of Technology

These picture came into my Inbox from a Georgia Tech Student who took our Save The Dates around Atlanta. These three are from the front sign and from her dorm room.  Pretty nice of her to do that.

Bit update: Tomorrow we will have picture from the Disney marathon that Rich and Rita completed. They took the Save The Date around with them and took picture during the race. Pretty cool. Look forward to that.

Another One Bits the Dust (Mississippi)

Well, another state is off the list. I recently received the pictures below of Mississippi from Rachel. The picture is of Riverside Park in Columbus Mississippi and Rachel added her own caption to the photo, "Not Very Artful, but it hit Mississippi..."
This just cracked Katie and I up. Columbus Mississippi is where one of my good friends grew up, which is how we ended up with a picture from there. So thank you to Rachel and Amy for helping out with the Project and crossing another state off the list.

So how many states are left?

Glad you asked. Here is the list.

Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

A few people already mentioned to me that they would be able to get Virginia and Tennessee but if you can help with cross off another state we would greatly appreciate it. Email ProjectSaveTheDate@gmail.com if you can help. It would be greatly appreciated.

Field of Dreams

Ever since I will little my dad and I loved playing baseball together. There was nothing better than going out to the yard after dinner and playing catch. It was a special time.

One of the movies that we both love, and embraces that spirit is "Field of Dreams". It is obviously a very special movie about the relationship between father and son. Ever since seeing that movie I always wanted to visit the farm.

By the time our Save The Date made it to Iowa the corn was down and there was over a foot of snow covering the baseball field. Instead Becky at the Field of Dreams movie site photo shopped the photo below. Thanks for all your help Becky. Certainly is a special place.

As always if you have have any ideas of places for us, can help, know someone who can, or just want to say hi feel free to email us at ProjectSaveTheSate@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading.

Black Forest Germany

Hello Hello-

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Katie and I were certainly busy with wedding planning. We recently picked out our wedding bands which is a big step towards the wedding. Only three and a half months away! Amazing how time flies.

Today's picture comes from Katie's cousin Jenny. Jenny took this picture while cross country skiing in Black Forest Germany. Really neat picture with the Save The Date hanging off of the ski poles. This is Project Save The Date's first visit to Germany.

Thanks again for helping Jenny!

Everyone have a great week.

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

Another week in the books. Another set of great pictures.

Today's picture was sent to me by a good friend Summer who was able to have one of her friends, Katie take this picture. The picture is of The Blue Mosque, Istanbul, which is also called the Sultanahmet Mosque. It is a fascinating piece of architecture built in 1616.

Pretty neat. Thanks again Summer (and Katie) We appreciate it.

Carlsbad Caverns

So it came to my attention (after I had already written yesterday's entry) that yesterday was special for more than just reaching the last continent. Yesterday was also the 100th post. When Katie and I started this Project I was not sure how long this would last. Would anyone care? Would anyone read the blog? Would anyone help out a couple they had never met?

Luckily for us the answer to all the questions is yes. So congratulations to us all for making to to post 101, today's, which is of Carlsbad Caverns. Once again the Park Rangers at the National Park who have time and time again helped us with out Project. Thank you!

Thanks for reading.

South Africa and all Seven Continents

Today's picture come to us from Bride and Joy, an Irish wedding blog that has been a big help and supporter of the Project. You may remember Bride and Joy from the pictures we received in Ireland earlier. Those were the very first pictures that I received from Europe.

Today's picture is a big achievement in the Project. As Lisa states it "was taken in South Africa when my Dad was there as part of the Irish Charity The Niall Mellon Foundation's building blitz. They were building houses for people who live in the townships and who did not have proper accommodation." Sounds like a great cause.

So what makes this picture so great you might ask? Well this picture now means that Project Save The Date has been to every Continent. We had received many from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and even one from Antarctica but until now we had not received one from Africa.

So Lisa not only provided use with our first pictures in Europe but also Africa. Can't thank her enough.

Thanks for reading.

Walmart: Always Low Prices (Happy 1/11/11)

Happy 1/11/11!

Some pictures you can anticipate, some surprise you, and some, like today's just make you smile. Today's were sent in by Dana (with the help of Jonathan) and are not only taken at Walmart, but are taken at Walmart's Headquarters in Bentonville Arkansas. The first one is taken at the company's front desk while the second is taken at the bust of Sam Walton.

Our readers and contributors never cease to amaze us. This was perfect. Not only does it cross another state off the list that we didn't have, but it is just so funny and great.

If you know of any one that can help out, or has a way to make this Project better, please email us at ProjectSaveTheDate@gmail.com

English Premier League- Stoke City FC

Happy Monday to you all. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Today's picture come from the English Premier League. Matt Bowen was kind enough to take the Save The Date to the match at Stoke City FC against Blackpool. Unfortunately for Matt, Blackpool scored the matches only goal as Stoke City fell 1-0. The first picture is outside Stoke City's Stadium, Britannia Stadium.

The second picture is of Sir Stanley Matthews, one of England's greatest players who played for Stoke City FC and also for Blackpool, the team Stoke City FC played that day.

Thanks for helping out Matt, we really appreciate it.

Under the Sea

Happy Friday to you all--

After getting the South Pole and Mount Everest I wasn't sure what my "White Whale" would be. I came up with two ideas of places for the Save The Date to go.

1. Scuba Diving; and
2. Skydiving.

Well thanks to Rich and Rita (some of you may recognize them) we got photos of the Save The Date underwater. These were taken during a recent trip to Hawaii during a dive excursion off of the coast. They sent along many more that we will share during later posts. These are just fantastic.

I decided to post these pictures today because Rich and Rita are participating in a Marathon this weekend. And yes, they will be taking along the Save The Date with them meaning that the Save The Date will complete a marathon! Have to admit I didn't even think of that one. Pretty creative. Good luck!

If you, are anyone you know, can help us get a picture of the Save The Date skydiving (or anywhere else) please email us at ProjectSaveTheDate@gmail.com

Enjoy your weekend.

Van Halen Approves (Panama!)

What a week it has been. Lots of wedding planning! Katie and I are still getting a lot of the details worked out but where has the time gone? The wedding is quickly approaching. We took some time off wedding planning during November and December with the holidays but now we are back at it.

We forgot how much work it was!

Today's picture comes from Cheryl who took this picture at la Iglesia de La Merced in the Casco Antiguo section of Panama City. Cheryl was able to get quite a few pictures for us during her travels in Central and South America and it is greatly appreciated. We have a special picture coming tomorrow for the weekend. Almost done with the work week!

Centennial Olympic Park

nI know I have talked about it before but I still can't get over the kindness of strangers. Today's pictures come to us from a Georgia Tech student. She was kind enough to take our Save The Date around the city of Atlanta. There will be a few more posts later from her. We separated them out into areas of the city.

These first ones are from Centennial Olympic Park. I think my favorite one is the third picture. Can you spot the Save The Date?

It is in the hand of the statue of Baron Pierre de Coubertin. Pretty creative if you ask me.

Thanks again.

Lake Tahoe

Today's pictures come to us from Kim (not my sister) who took these two pictures of the Save The Date at Lake Tahoe. We have never been to Lake Tahoe but from everything we have heard it is spectacular. Thanks for helping out Kim.

We really appreciate everyone who has helped us out, friends, family, friends of friends, and complete strangers. But we need your help to keep this Project going. If there is anyway you could help spread word of the Project and email friends and family about it we would greatly appreciate it. We need more pictures to keep the Project going. Any help would be appreciated. You can also help us out by joining our Facebook page and "liking" it.

Thanks for reading.
